Name Change

This program was called Christian Education Emphasis Sabbath in its first year, 2005. That is because "Christian Education Emphasis Sabbath" is what came rolling off our lips and fingers in a desire to get something going. However, the title was such a mouthful that it forced almost everybody to use the initials: CEES. "CEES," as a title, was not about to communicate much, so we dropped the word emphasis and continued with the program.

This page describes what we did the first year of the program.

2005 Christian Education Emphasis Sabbath

Christians need to grow, and we need to grow together. God wants us together to reach unity of faith, knowledge of the Son of God, and maturity (Ephesians 4:11-13). This is not something we can afford to take lightly. What are you doing to grow in Christ alongside and with other believers?

After the resurrection, two followers of Jesus were heading to Emmaus when He appeared. They did not recognize Jesus, and they did not recognize the recent miraculous work of God for what it was: Salvation.

On that road, Jesus taught his followers, once again, what God had revealed of this plan in the Scriptures. As Jesus spoke, their hearts burned. When Jesus broke bread, their eyes were opened. When these followers recognized the resurrected Jesus, they were compelled to tell other believers what they had learned.

We, too, can be compelled to share what we have learned. We can also rejoice and grow when we hear what our Lord has done in the lives of others.

Life in your church is an opportunity to grow alongside and with other believers. Are you using this opportunity well?

This year's support material includes a bulletin insert, a children's message, a skit, and a responsive reading. These are designed to fit within a worship service that is emphasizing the importance finding ways to grow together in Christ.

Don't miss the skit. It is called CHURCHIOS and can be quite helpful in illustrating the importance of Sabbath School.
