Psalm 62:7-12

On God rests my salvation and my glory;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

Those of low estate are but a breath;
those of high estate are a delusion;
in the balances they go up;
they are together lighter than a breath.
Put no trust in extortion;
set no vain hopes on robbery;
if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

Once God has spoken;
twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God,
and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love.
For you will render to a man
according to his work. (ESV)

One of the hardest things for me to do is to depend on someone else to do something that I think is crucial. I have to admit that I can't or shouldn't do it myself, and then let go of control of the project. Dependence is hard for most of us, even depending on God. We want to have some role in our salvation and honor-but we are told these depend on God alone (v. 7). We need to let go of control and pour out our hearts to him. I have to remember every day that God can do it much better than I can; I can't begin to save myself. I know that I can trust him to do the job right, because he is strong and loving. Have you chosen to give up control and trust God today for your life and your reputation?
