Psalm 34:1-8
34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! (ESV)

While Ecclesiastes represents what life is like without the Lord, this passage represents what life is like with the Lord. Consider the declarations found here: 1) the Lord answers when we call (v. 4); 2) the Lord delivers us from fear (v.4); 3) there is no shame for the Lord’s people (v. 5); 4) the Lord saves us from all troubles (v. 6); 5) the Lord’s angels encircle the people of God (v. 7); and 6) life in the Lord tastes good (v. 8—try it, you’ll like it). No wonder the psalmist rejoices in the Lord. (vv. 1-3).
