Psalm 150

150:1 Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord! (ESV)

by Leanne Lippincott

My basic instinct during public worship is to remain as inconspicuous as possible. Even when I feel the urge to raise my hands in praise, I balk. But this psalm tells us that we should worship God with exuberance. Even dancing is mentioned. My worship demeanor is slowly changing. I clap to songs now, and I sometimes raise my hands to my waist. Give me another 20 years, and I might end up doing a liturgical dance for the Lord.
