Proverbs 8:1-9
8:1 Does not wisdom call?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights beside the way,
at the crossroads she takes her stand;
beside the gates in front of the town,
at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
“To you, O men, I call,
and my cry is to the children of man.
O simple ones, learn prudence;
O fools, learn sense.
Hear, for I will speak noble things,
and from my lips will come what is right,
for my mouth will utter truth;
wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
All the words of my mouth are righteous;
there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.
They are all straight to him who understands,
and right to those who find knowledge. (ESV)

As I read these verses, a clear picture came to mind. I could “see” and “hear” a woman, calling out, desperate to share her message. The second time I read the passage, I also noticed that Wisdom was very determined to be heard! She appeared at every crossroad, entrance, hilltop and gate. Isn’t that what God’s wisdom really is like? He is desperate for us to hear his message and he continually calls to us. He calls us to him for our salvation through Christ. He calls us to follow his paths and trust in him. He will meet us at the crossroads of our lives and direct us to the right path. He will meet us at the entrance and go with us into new adventures. He will call out to us from the heights and the depths and will even pick us up when we fall. We just need to listen.
