Proverbs 11: 22-26
Like a gold ring in a pig's snout
is a beautiful woman without discretion.
The desire of the righteous ends only in good;
the expectation of the wicked in wrath.
One gives freely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
Whoever brings blessing will be enriched,
and one who waters will himself be watered.
The people curse him who holds back grain,
but a blessing is on the head of him who sells it. (ESV)

The world around us seeks beauty in outer appearances. The TV needs to only be on a few minutes to see examples of that! But what happens behind the scenes? The headlines jump off the front pages of tabloids. Many of those who are held up as “stars” in our society don’t have such “beautiful” lives. Many of their marriages fall apart, or they are involved in drugs. We look at the outside appearance, but God looks on the inside. I am often frustrated with my outer appearance, but God would rather see beauty in our hearts as they reflect his glory.
