Genesis 1:6-8
And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. (ESV)

On the second day, God created the sky. The sky is an amazing part of creation. It is vast and endless. Man can only experience bits and pieces of it at a time. As I read this passage, it struck me that the sky is a lot like God himself. It stretches onward, far beyond our reach and our understanding. It meets us as we lie, sit, kneel, or stand. Likewise, in this life, we have only a partial vision of God—only a partial understanding of him. He meets us where we are, but as we look to him, we realize he has so much more to offer. His love for us is endless—just like the sky.
