Genesis 1:20-23
And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. (ESV)

I read that there are over 10,000 known species of birds in existence and over 100,000 species of known sea life. If there are that many known species, I wonder how many unknown species might still be out there. I find that amazing to think about! God filled the waters, as well as the air, with life. Each of those species has a special place in creation; they are all unique. As amazing as that may be, it is even more amazing to consider that God put even more detail and thought into making each of us. He knows the number of hairs on our heads, he knows where we have been, and he has a plan for each of our futures! “Consider the ravens: they do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds” (Luke 12:24, NIV)!
