Genesis 1:24-25
And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Two or three times a year, our family ventures to the zoo. It is fun to watch the silly otters as they swim and play. It is humbling to hear the lions roar. It is amazing to see the graceful giraffes as we wonder at the fact that they don’t tip over! We enjoy feeding the greedy goats as they push and shove to get a nibble of food. We marvel at the brightly colored birds and the unusually ugly rhinos! Looking at the many different animals, it is easy to see that we worship and serve a creative, ingenious God who must have a full understanding of simple beauty and humor! “God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock and small animals, each able to reproduce more of its own kind. And God saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:25, NLT).
