Psalm 66:16-20
Come and hear, all you who fear God,
and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
I cried to him with my mouth,
and high praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished iniquity in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
But truly God has listened;
he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God,
because he has not rejected my prayer
or removed his steadfast love from me! (ESV)

God doesn’t simply hear us when we speak to him in prayer. He listens to us. The most beautiful thing is that God listens to our hearts, and not simply to our voices. God asks us only to humble our hearts before him and confess any sin in order to come to him through the cleansing blood of Jesus. When we don’t have the words to speak what is in our hearts, he listens to that as well. Even when we don’t know what we need, he knows. When God hears our repentant cries, he listens to our hearts and will never reject us.
