Luke 6:31
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. (ESV)
by Paula Davis
This ‘golden rule’ is thrown around a lot, not only by Christians but also by non-believers. Sometimes I wonder if we throw it around so much that we don’t really realize that God really means it. When we look at Jesus’ life and the way he treated people, we see some remarkable situations and circumstances where he allowed love to shine through to those who were shunned by all those around them. When I think about this verse, I usually think about not mistreating people. But I think that God intends for us to think intentionally about the way we are treating people—not only not to mistreat them, but to treat those whom the world sees as unlovable or unworthy with the love that we would want others to show to us.
