Psalm 146:1-7

146:1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God,
who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free; (ESV)

by Paula Davis

I am so often guilty of putting my faith in other humans before I put my faith in God. When I have a need, I often look around for the person who can help me with it, instead of turning first to prayer. God is the only One who can complete us. He is our strength and our eternal supporter. Any human who comes alongside us will some day let us down, and will some day die. The trust we put in them will some day fail. Only God can provide all we need and remain faithful forever. Praise the Lord that he completes us and that we can always put our trust in him.
