Psalm 78:1-4
78:1 Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;
incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings from of old,
things that we have heard and known,
that our fathers have told us.
We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done. (ESV)

It is so important to pass history along to future generations. We have many tools to assist us in this age of video and DVD cameras, photo software and scrapbooks. There is no excuse for us not to leave our history to future generations. With all these tools and gadgets, I realize that some of my most precious memories are of sitting with my grandparents, and now with my parents, to hear about life in the past. I learn so much about the history of our family and the history of our faith. Whether we are blessed with children of our own or not, God expects us to pass along the history of our faith to the new members of our eternal family. We must be patient with new Christians as they learn to walk with the Lord, and come alongside them as mentors and parents in their faith.
