Luke 13:1-5

13:1 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (ESV)

As Christians we must be careful that we don’t water down the salvation message so that it will be more palatable to unbelievers. We must be clear to them what God says in his Word: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) and “Without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sins” (Hebrews 9:22b). If God’s word is rejected, that is not our responsibility. Our responsibility is to speak God’s word in love, clearly and wholly, so that we may not be held responsible on the Day of Judgment for watering down the gospel message.
