Nehemiah 4:7-9
But when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabs and the Ammonites and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem was going forward and that the breaches were beginning to be closed, they were very angry. And they all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and to cause confusion in it. And we prayed to our God and set a guard as a protection against them day and night. (ESV)

Nehemiah continually turned to God in prayer, which emerges as a theme in this book. Turning to God was more than a habit—it was Nehemiah’s lifeline.
For the past few weeks, these meditations have focused a lot on prayer. Communication with God remains an important activity for every Christian. Without it, we lose our connection with God. Once again, consider your prayer life. What progress have you made in keeping plugged in to God? How have your petitions improved? Where do you still need to improve?
