Psalm 27:11-14

Teach me your way, O Lord,
and lead me on a level path
because of my enemies.
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they breathe out violence.

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living!
Wait for the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the Lord! (ESV)

by Linda Harris

J. Vernon McGee paraphrased Psalm 27:11: “I want a good testimony before the enemy, because I know he will criticize me. I want You to watch over me, Lord, and help me not to embarrass You by what I do.” That’s an essential prayer for every Christian.

Criticism runs rampant in our society, and it’s not easy to bear. Have you been criticized lately? How have you handled it? Defensiveness rarely works. Instead, wait on God to take control of the situation (27:14).
