John 1:1-5
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (ESV)

This biographical statement regarding the life of Jesus Christ is a stumbling block to those who choose to embrace the theory of evolution. However, it is the very core of our Christian belief system. According to this passage of scripture our world was created by “intelligent design” by a personally involved Creator. We are not the by-product of random mutations, but rather the handiwork of an amazing God.
