Hebrews 1:6-9
And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God's angels worship him.”
Of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
and his ministers a flame of fire.”
But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” (ESV)
by Leota Stevens
The deity of Christ is firmly established in these four verses. God never gave an angel the title of “son.” That relationship was reserved for Jesus. God gave clear command that all angelic beings were to worship Christ. God never anointed an angel, but the oil of gladness was poured out upon Jesus. God referred to Jesus as equal to himself when he said to Christ, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.”
