Hebrews 13:7-9

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them. (ESV)

by Leota Stevens

The Christian belief system is not one of the “blind following the blind.” Here, clear instruction is given to us to remember the ones who have shared the gospel with us and follow their example, after considering the outcome of their conduct. God designed us in his image. That image is one of creativity, intelligence, kindness, diligence and love, not laziness, mindlessness, maliciousness and blind allegiance. The word considering implies application of careful thought—not membership in the “Lemming-League.”
