Matthew 16:13-16
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (ESV)

Every person who really hears the gospel is confronted with the same question that Jesus put to his disciples. It makes me think of the line from the animated movie Aladdin where the genie tells the young boy that he has mighty cosmic powers in a teeny, little living space. We have, resident in our souls, the power to decide whether we will accept the Lord of Glory for who he truly is, or simply offer faithless conjecture along with others who do not have a personal relationship with the Son of God.
