James 1:16-21

Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (ESV)

Want to know the steps to the dance of life? Want to dance beautifully with the Lord of Life who created the rhythm and movement and music for this dance? Listen closely: swift, slow, slow – swift, slow, slow. These important steps enable each of us to learn the dance. Be swift to hear—really listen! Be slow to speak—watch what you say and how you say it so others will be benefited by your speech. Death and life are in the power of the tongue; pick your target and choose your words wisely. Be slow to wrath—your being ticked off and letting someone have an earful of your displeasure doesn’t accomplish a righteous goal. Shall we dance?
