James 2:8-11

If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. (ESV)

by Leota Stevens

The more we study these verses the more we become aware of God’s serious disdain for partiality in the lives of his children. He doesn’t mince any words here; he told us not to murder and he told us not to choose a little clique in the church to belong to and exclude others from membership because they aren’t the right kind of people with whom we wish to be seen. Disobedience is disobedience—sin is sin. Aren’t you glad that our Heavenly Father has enough grace to enable us to love others, even those we find naturally unacceptable?
