James 5:13-15
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (ESV)

Life as a Christian does not provide membership into a utopian society where pain, suffering and death do not exist. To the contrary, our faith often experiences some of its greatest growth during the difficult and trying stages of life that we encounter. Our best course of action during those dark days is prayer, both individual and corporate. Prayer is a lifeline of communication with the throne room of Almighty God. Never underestimate its value.
