John 1:10-14

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (ESV)

It is hard to imagine the God of the universe coming to earth and taking on human form. It is even harder to imagine that same God coming as a baby and growing up into a man who would fulfill prophesy and be Immanuel, God with us. It really is mind-blowing. But we know that is the truth! Christ came as God incarnate. He lived as a baby, a child, and a man. He was rejected by the very people he came to save. He died on a cross to save us and pay our debts for sins. The really amazing thing though is that “to all who receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become the children of God”! We are the children of God, and that is something to be thankful for!
