Numbers 6:22-27
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
“So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.” (ESV)

Verse 24 creates an image of the Lord holding us in his mighty hands; there is no better place to be. In verse 25, it speaks of the “Lord make his face shine upon you”; I am sure that is more bright and cheerful than the sunniest summer day anyone can imagine. The next part of the blessing is “…the Lord turn his face toward you.” Think of how you feel when someone you really love turns to face you; now magnify that by millions! And lastly, “…give you peace.” As a pastor’s wife, mother of 4, and middle school teacher, I cannot think of a greater blessing than peace! The Lord’s peace is the calm in the storm, a sure and steady hiding place, and the knowledge that everything is in his control. Go out and be blessed today!
