Philippians 3:17-4:1
Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
4:1 Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. (ESV)

Our citizenship is in heaven. That is often hard to keep in perspective as we live here on this earth. We are surrounded constantly by the temptations of this world and yet we are called to stand firm in the Lord. Often, standing firm in the Lord can mean standing firm against the things that surround us. It is often not an easy place to be. Our human nature desires to be a part of this world and partake of its pleasures. Our hearts and spirits desire to stand firm in the Lord and live a life that is worthy of his calling. Pray today that the Lord would give you the strength to stand firm in him, resting on his outstretched, mighty hands.
