Psalm 21:1-7

21:1 O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart's desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great through your salvation;
splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
For you make him most blessed forever;
you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. (ESV)

Do you ever get the feeling that you’ve had your allotment of blessings—that you’ve reached the limit of how God will bless your life? I have felt that way many times. I was 36 years old when I was pregnant with my daughter. The “Over 35” stigma hung heavy on me and I wasn’t sure that God would bless us with a healthy baby. God did choose to bless us this way and Erin has been the joy of our lives ever since. Now that I’m 38 and striving for a second child I sometimes feel as though we’re “pushing the envelope.” It is tempting to think God won’t choose to bless again. I know he will though, because as it says in verse two, “You have granted him the desires of his heart.” Besides, I know that each and every baby is a blessing from the Lord!
