1 Corinthians 15:1-8
15:1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. (ESV)

This passage summarizes what we believe as truth. Christ died for our sins, was raised from the dead and then appeared to his disciples. Can you imagine the emotional roller coaster that the disciples must have experienced? First they stood helplessly by as the Lord was crucified. They were filled with sorrow and despair only to find a few days later that he was ALIVE! Christ did not stay in the grave, he rose again. With that, he brought new life to us as well. If we accept his gift of grace and believe in him as the Son of God, he will rescue us from death and give us new life in him! The disciples were literal witnesses—they were there and saw it. We too are witnesses as we experience his power and glory in our lives. Thank God for his perfect plan and for providing a way to him through Christ!
