John 1:14-18

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known. (ESV)

by Jerry Johnson

The Apostle John declared that Jesus Christ was fully God and fully man, the living Word who became flesh. His dwelling in their midst is described in a way similar to the tabernacle in the Old Testament. There the glory of God appeared in the wilderness; later it came to the Temple. In Christ we have the glory of God, manifested in his perfect, gracious covenant-making and covenant-keeping character. He is the only begotten Son of God, eternally pre-existent, visibly revealing the invisible, having no parallel. Grace is now available to sinners in all its full extent.
