Psalm 25:1-5

25:1 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in you I trust;
let me not be put to shame;
let not my enemies exult over me.
Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.

Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long. (ESV)

by Jerry Johnson

There are times in life when I do not want to pray. David lifted up his soul to the Lord when he was burdened by all of his cares, the problems that came as a result of the enemies he faced. Our enemies and cares are different but we still need to reorient away from the horizontal circumstances and look up to our heavenly Father. In addition to asking for deliverance, we must be like Dave and appeal for the Lord to show us his ways and paths, to give guidance and direction for each day. We must wait for him. This is not easy.
