Psalm 100
100:1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations. (ESV)
by John H. Camenga
Why should we make a joyful noise to the Lord, or serve him with gladness? Why should we express thanks and praise in his house? The psalmist gives a brief, but powerful series of reasons Recognize: (1) who God is (2) we are created by him (3) we are not “self-made.” (4) He protects us as his flock. (4) God is consistently good. (5) He will always to show mercy to us. (6) He remains faithful.
The psalmist has packed a lot of truth about God in these few words. Can we respond with anything less that the worship and praise we are called to express?
