Psalm 78:15-17

He split rocks in the wilderness
and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
He made streams come out of the rock
and caused waters to flow down like rivers.

Yet they sinned still more against him,
rebelling against the Most High in the desert. (ESV)

by Irene B. Saunders

In the Old Testament, the sin of rebellion was dealt with firmly and severely. The New Testament instructs us, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities…established by God (See Romans 13:1–5). When the people rebelled against Moses and Aaron, they were really rebelling against God. Our pastors have been placed in authority as servant-scholars to lead us and guide us. When we have disputes or differences of opinions, we need to go to our pastors prayerfully and lovingly to discuss maturely whatever problem there may be. We need to do our part to not have a rebellious spirit in our churches.
