Matthew 22:34-40
But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (ESV)

When the Sadducees could not trick Jesus, the Pharisees got together to give it a try! The lesson is for us today, also. Time and time again, Jesus admonishes us to first love the Lord with all of our being (heart, soul and mind), and then to love other people with the same kind of love. I do not know about you, but that second part is tough for me sometimes. It seems we all know some unlovable people.
It is only with God’s grace, and his love shining through me, that I am able to accomplish loving other people as much as I love him. Have you tapped into your dose of God’s love and his power to love others today?
