Psalm 103:11-16
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.
As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more. (ESV)

Our family was driving toward our evening’s destination on a trip not long ago. It was dark and we could see a spectacular lightning storm ahead of us. We waited with some fear and some excitement as we drove on expecting to have to drive through it to get to where we were going. But the storm was so far away, we never did drive into it. As the driver, I was responsible for protecting my family. I felt God’s protection surrounding us and keeping us safe from the storm. Let’s pray today that God often keeps the storm far away from us.
