—2 Samuel 7:1, 4-17
by: Jasmine Lynch.
There are times when we choose to do good, expecting God to be pleased with our actions and our good intentions—especially when building a church. However, our good intentions must be led by God. David wanted to build a house for God, but God would not allow David to build it because he had shed too much blood (1 Chronicles 22:8). David accepted God’s rebuke, instead focusing on preparing his son to accomplish the task. Sometimes, we become impatient and want to rush ahead of God. Let us be as receptive as David was when God’s servant brings us His word.
