—Isaiah 5:1-7
by: Dale Rood.
Maybe we should entitle this parable of the vineyard “Great Expectations.” We can sense longing in the heart of God for His people. We can tell how deeply He hurt because His vineyard did not bring forth what He had wanted. This is not so much failing to bring forth a crop but bringing forth a crop contrary to the intended purpose. We can sense that in verse 7 which says, “He looked for justice, but behold, oppression; For righteousness, but behold a cry for help” (NKJV). Though God was disappointed with Israel, it was not His desire to lay His vineyard waste. God may be disappointed with your behavior sometimes, but He will never give up on you.
