—Psalm 21
by: Gabrielle Watt.
David expressed his gratitude to God for His outpouring of blessings. He took the time to acknowledge that the victories, greatness, and honor he received was because of God. In verses 8-12, David went on to speak of God’s judgement on His enemies, and he did so with confidence. Lastly, David praised God, recognized His strength as above his own, and said, “We will sing and praise your might” (v.13, NIV). This phrase takes this moment of praise beyond just David and God and extended it to the nation of Israel—a way of saying that the king will not allow Israel to forget God and His strength.
