The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

As a retired pastor who has had years of influencing the lives of others, I can identify with “The Elder” (v.1) when he said, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth” (v.4, NKJV). Here we have again that matter of “practicing righteousness” that was mentioned yesterday. How much are you seeking the Lord and His strength in order to live righteously according to the truth of the gospel of God? Would the way you live bring joy to those who have positively influenced you? Have you taken time recently to thank them for their labor of love on your behalf?
