—Hebrews 11:4-10

Blind faith is dangerous. It can lead us astray, place idols in our way, and cause bitterness when it is not fulfilled. Verse 6 reminds us, “For he who comes to God must believe that He is.” According to the Zondervan NASB Study Bible notes on this passage, the faith of the patriarchs was not blind. It was confident in God’s trustworthiness. Their relationships with God gave them assurance of His enduring legacy and He did not disappoint. Since we know God is unchanging and eternal, we can be confident that He will not disappoint us either. Our faith, based in the wholeness of who God is, reminds us that He will keep His promises—for all eternity and beyond.
