—Daniel 1:8-17
by: Linda Lawton.
Daniel’s objection to eating the food provided for him by Nebuchadnezzer was that it would not be kosher and might have been offered to idols. To eat and drink this food would have been a sin. Rather than demanding to be given other food, he made his request respectfully, and offered a compromise when met with resistance. This should be an example to us. Yes, we need to be faithful and obey God. But if we present ourselves as angry, belligerent, or entitled, people will only see the anger and will push back. We must always remember that we represent God in everything we do and conduct ourselves accordingly.
