Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.

We want to belong to a community of believers because we long for a place where we can share our common beliefs and benefit from the safety of that community. We are all broken and seeking healing in the hospital that is a church community. Unfortunately, we are often more comfortable pointing at the sin of another and do not realize how close we could come to that very sin. Instead of believing ourselves to be righteous and above reproach, we need to humble ourselves and have empathy for the situation of our brother or sister. We need to treat each other as Christ would treat us.
