—Exodus 1:22-2:10
by: Jerry Johnson.
Moses’ birth narrative is an example of taking risk in order to allow God to perform His miraculous work. We are told earlier in the passage that the midwives feared God enough to disobey Pharaoh. In the same way, Moses’ mother hid him in the hope that someone would find him and give him a chance to live. From this risky move began the improbable journey of the one who would deliver the Israelites from bondage. Analogous to this is the birth narrative of Christ Himself, who because of the risks taken by His mother, would deliver mankind from a different kind of bondage. How about you—are you a faithful risk-taker?
