—Psalm 37:1-9, 37-40
by: Grace Crouch.
This passage uses repetition that revolves around trusting the Lord and doing good. The word translated as “trust” is “batach” in Hebrew. It is translated in other passages as trust, confidence, secure, and a few other ways. “Good” is the Hebrew word “tov” and is also translated several different ways, including merry, prosperity, beautiful, favor, and glad. Trusting God means we have confidence and security in Him. It is His goodness that is the source of our goodness. It has to come in that order. Then the good we do is produced from a glad and beautiful heart (Matthew 5:16).
