—Acts 9:1-9
by: Dorothy Noel.
Saul met Jesus at the most inopportune time. He was halfway between aiding in a murder (Stephen, Acts 8:1) and finding more Jews to bring to trial. He was at the top of his career, commanding enough respect from the Jewish leaders to receive their authority to do as he pleased. But Jesus interrupted, questioning his motives. Jesus did not command Saul to change or tell him to preach. He asked a question. Jesus wanted to build a relationship with Saul so that Saul could accept Him as Messiah. Before we are called to preach, Jesus desires to be known by us. Before going out with the message of salvation, we must intimately know the One who saves.
