—Matthew 2:7-15
by: Linda Lawton.
Herod called the Wise Men to ask when the star had appeared. Based on that conversation, he had all boys two years old and younger slaughtered. The Wise Men entered a house, not the stable where Jesus was born, to worship the young child. In light of all this, many of our Nativity pageants get the story wrong, and the shepherds and the Magi did not all meet up at the stable. Does that really matter? Is it important that we get every detail correct, or is the important thing that we remember the story, that we recognize that Jesus was worshipped even by those who were not Jews, and that God preserved His life by sending the family to Egypt?
