Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

You do not have to look very hard to find evidence of division and hate in our world. It is everywhere. God’s love, however, overcomes division and hate in the world. Faith in Jesus’ love and sacrifice is faith in a God who loves all people and longs for us to love others as He loves. The victory we have in Jesus allows us to have the freedom to love God by following His commandments. His commandments are to love God and love others, which is an example set by Jesus’ life on earth. Our faith in Jesus is a victory that we can claim as we follow God and strive to be more like Jesus.'
