—2 Chronicles 26:1-8, 15-18
by: Kristin Camenga.
As Uzziah sought the Lord and did what was right, God gave success (v.5), help (v.7), fame, and power (v.8). In spite of this strong beginning, Uzziah fell. His pride got the best of him. He went against God’s decree and burned incense in the temple. As a result, he lived the rest of his life with leprosy and was outcast from the temple (v.21). After all he had done right, why was this one act so horrible? Uzziah had desecrated the holiness of God’s own house. How sensitive are we to God’s holiness? How careful are we to honor our holy God?
