—Acts 4:23-31
by: Gabriela Alonzo.
It is important to pray specifically. This group began their prayer by acknowledging God—who He is, and His power as the Creator. Then in verse 26, they recalled the prophecy spoken through King David of Jesus’ Crucifixion (see Psalm 2:1-2). They used this scripture to refer to the persecution they were currently facing in Jerusalem, acknowledging God’s purpose and predestination of Jesus’ sacrifice. Then they called on God to see their present situation, asking for the ability to speak the gospel with confidence, trusting in Him to reach out His hand to heal, give signs, and perform wonders in the holy name of Jesus.
