—Philippians 2:1-11
by: Jasmine Lynch.
Paul wrote this letter to the Philippians when he was in jail in Rome. Notice that which filled his joy was not the thought of being released from prison. It was for the brethren to be “like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” (v.2, NKJV). This is also the desire of our pastors. What joy it would be to them if church members would put aside selfish ambition and look out for the interest of others. This was the driving force behind Jesus’ sacrifice. He became a bond servant for us. We too must humble ourselves and be obedient to death.
