—Isaiah 49:1-7
by: Gabrielle Watt.
This passage sounds like a prophecy of the Messiah, who would be revealed in the New Testament Jesus. Jesus would be the Savior and hope for both Jews and Gentiles—a true light for the nations. His words had authority and power. This was proven when Jesus calmed the storm in Luke 8:22-25, and when He cursed a fig tree in Matthew 21:19, and many other times throughout His ministry. Regardless of His mission and sovereignty, Jesus was, and is still, hated by many. Nonetheless, one day, even those who hate Him will be in awe of His presence. How else does this Scripture foreshadow the coming of the Messiah?
